About Us
Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club (HPIC) is going from strength to strength. We have around 50 members and pride ourselves in covering a wide range of photographic interests.
We've done well in competitions with fellow clubs in Yorkshire in recent months but the emphasis is always on learning from each other and from visiting experts.
The varied weekly programme includes something of interest for everyone from lectures to technical demonstrations, portrait sessions to audio-visual presentations, competitions to social events. In the summer we often visit places of interest to take photographs.
These days there are a wide range of technologies available to the amateur photographer. Club members share a common interest in taking and making pictures, whether slides or prints, using traditional or digital techniques.
We are a friendly club so if you have an interest in photography come along to one of our Wednesday evening meetings and see what we get up to.
History
Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club (HPIC) was formed in Sept 2004 from two long-standing local societies. Huddersfield Photographic Society (HPS) was originally formed in 1888 and later joined with other societies to form the Huddersfield Naturalist, Photographic and Antiquarian Society.
Huddersfield Camera Circle (HCC) was formed when a group of members of the Naturalist, Photographic and Antiquarian Society broke away and formed their own club in 1938.
HPIC is affiliated to the Yorkshire Photographic Union and holds its annual exhibition in the Huddersfield Art Gallery each spring.
