Three way battle becomes four

Our customary 3-way digital image battle with neighbouring clubs, Halifax Photographic Society and Holmfirth Camera Club was expanded this year through the welcome addition of new found friends from Rochdale & District Camera Club. It was our turn to host the event which we did at our Kirkheaton base on 11th November 2009.

Each club submitted 6 images in the Applied category (Natural History and Record) and 10 in the General category (everything else). The judge, John Bickerdike ARPS DPAGB, gave a fair and consistent appraisal of the images and it was clear from his concise and 'to the point' remarks that he had given all the images a careful review beforehand.
Although marks were closely clustered, the overall winner was Huddersfield with 288 points out of a possible 320. Second came Rochdale on 272 with Halifax (270) just shading it over Holmfirth (269).

Huddersfield also led the 20s board on the night with the following images all being awarded full marks.:

‘Bottlenose Dolphin by Steve Challenger
‘Female Redstart by Malcolm Sykes
‘Shadow Boxer by Barry Jackson ARPS
‘Reflections of Gemma by David Lockwood

Well done too these members and thank you to all for submitting images to be selected.
It was an enjoyable evening all round with special thanks to Barbara's mum and Liz for their excellent baking and particularly pleasing to osee the trophy back in Huddersfield for the first time since 2004.
